Requirements

At Killara Feedlot, we source and manage essential feed commodities to maintain consistent quality and performance across all cattle programs. Our procurement strategy focuses on quality and compliance with nutritional standards. Key commodities include barley, wheat, cottonseed, faba beans, lucerne and vetch hay.

Our ingredients are formulated by expert nutritionalists and processed in steam flaked facilities to optimise cattle health, performance and feed efficiencies.

Barley

A Key Energy Source. Barley is a cornerstone of our feed programs, providing high-energy content essential for cattle growth and performance. At Killara, we source premium-quality barley to ensure consistency and digestibility, supporting balanced rations for optimal health.

Wheat

Protein and Energy for Performance. Wheat plays a vital role in delivering both protein and energy to cattle diets. Our team ensures wheat is processed and integrated into feed rations with precision, maintaining compliance and nutritional standards for superior results.

Cottonseed

Fibre and Fat for Balanced Nutrition. Cottonseed is a valuable ingredient in our feeding programs, offering fibre and fat that enhance rumen health and energy intake. We manage cottonseed supply carefully to maintain quality and prevent storage risks, ensuring safe and effective use in cattle diets.

Oils

Killara Feedlot now uses 100% canola oil in all rations-eliminating vegetable and palm oils - to meet the strict compliance requirements of both EU and Australian markets

Hay

Killara uses both lucerne and vetch hay, prized for their nutritional and highly palatability qualities. This is used in both our grass fed and feedlot programs.

Faba Beans

In recent years, as the availability of faba beans has increased, Killara Feedlot has incorporated this highly nutritious, protein-rich commodity to provide well-balanced rations.
